We developed a pediatric category to emphasize that prescribing cannabis to children should be done with extra precaution due to the age, weight and size of children, and dosage sensitivity.
This group mainly includes, epilepsy and behavioural symptoms, though Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved indication in pediatrics for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome (FDA, 2018). Some scientific evidence suggest that for nausea and vomiting could be considered also. Overall, there is lack of evidence that strongly supports any uses.
Even though many parents may choose to self-medicate their kids with cannabis. We strongly suggest seeking a physician’s approval with guided recommendations before starting medication.
